How to Make a Christmas Song with Your Family’s Names

Updated · Cantoro

Pick Christmas, type all the names in the name box the way you would say them together (“Mom, Dad, Lily and Max”), and add one or two things from this year. The AI writes a chorus with every name in it and sings two versions in about a minute: in our test, all four names were heard in all 14 name lines of the version we kept. Hear the first 60 seconds free, then keep it for $4.99.

Do it now: Christmas is picked below: type the names, add a memory, and hear the first 60 seconds of both versions free.

How many names can one Christmas song hold?

The name box takes up to 40 characters, which fits four or five short names: “Mom, Dad, Lily and Max” is 22. In our test the AI used the box as one line, so put the names in the order you would say them. In our four-name test, the whole line was sung in every chorus: a speech recognizer heard all four names in all 14 name lines of version 1, and in 12 of 14 in version 2, where “Lily” twice came out as “Lillian”.

For a bigger family, put a group name in the box (“the Parkers”, “Grandma’s crew”) and give each person a detail, or write the words yourself with “I have lyrics” so everyone gets a line.

What should I write in the details?

Which sound fits a Christmas song?

The style starts as “christmas pop, sleigh bells, warm piano”, the sound of both songs above. Change it to what your family plays in December, like “slow piano carol”, “country Christmas, acoustic guitar” or “big band swing”. Leave artist names out: a style that names one is turned down.

Can it be ready in time for Christmas?

A song is ready in about a minute, so it works on Christmas Eve too. Once you keep it ($4.99), both versions download as MP3: send the file in the family chat, play it at dinner or put it in a video. Nothing is emailed and the play links only work for you, so send the file itself.

Can I make one for each person instead?

Yes: one song per person, each with their own name in the chorus and their own details, $4.99 each, or less per song with a credit pack. The Christmas song for Mom above was made that way.
